JESUS TALKS OF THE LAST DAYS

©Rod Smith

Jesus Himself speaks of terrible times to come upon the earth.

World War 2, the war in Iraq and its aftermath were bad enough, What is coming will be far worse. In Matthew 24:21 Jesus says:

"For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been seen since the beginning of the world until this time, nor ever shall be."

Jesus speaks in Matthew 24:7-14 of the build-up to this. He says:

"For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.
All these are the beginnings of sorrows.
Then they will deliver you up to tribulation and kill you, and you will be hated by all nations for My name's sake.
And then many will be offended, will betray one another, and will hate one another.
Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many.
And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold.
But he who endures to the end will be saved."

We are surely in the last days now. There are wars, famines in various parts of the world. At the time of writing thousands will die of hunger in Sudan unless something is done quickly. Regarding earthquakes - in 2003 they happened in China, Greece, Iran, Japan, Mexico, Philippines, Sumatra, Taiwan.

Jesus continues in verse 15: "Therefore when you see the 'abomination of desolation' spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place" . . . He goes on to instruct His people what to do.

The "abomination of desolation" is the antichrist, and "the holy place" is Jerusalem. To get an overall picture of what Jesus says, read the whole chapter 24 of Matthew.

Take heart, dear reader. In spite of all the doom and gloom predicted, the believer - the Christian, has nothing to fear. Jesus says: "...lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." Matthew 28:20

No-one can fight God and win. Those events Jesus speaks of will happen, and the signs are they are not far away. Jesus will definitely have the last word. The sensible, the only, thing to do is to be onside with God, to be one of His people. So we have to repent, trust and believe. To find out about becoming a Christian, turn to
